Report: Mecca Hotel Collapse Kills Dozens.
MECCA, Saudi Arabia Jan 5, 2006 — A hotel on the outskirts of Islam's holiest city collapsed Thursday, security officials said, and pan-Arab television reported that there were dozens of casualties.
The tragedy [sic] occurred as millions of Muslim faithful are flooding into Mecca for the annual haj pilgrimage that peaks on Monday with the Eid al-Adha, a four-day feast.
